Lovely oils, fragrant botanicals and a few unsung formula heroes. Come and meet the ingredients behind our Made In Hemp skincare—no chemistry exam at the end.

Pick a personality below, or browse the individual ingredient profiles further down.

The house favourite: hemp seed oil

Hemp seed oil brings plenty to the skincare pot:

  • Rich in fatty acids: including linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3).
  • Softens and conditions: helps dry skin feel smoother and more comfortable.
  • A lovely skin feel: adds nourishment without the heavy, waxy texture of a butter.
  • Versatile: works across our creams, balms, body oils and soaps.

It is the seed oil we use here—pressed from hemp seeds, rather than a CBD extract.

The texture department: oils, butters & beeswax

Sweet almond · Apricot · Macadamia · Jojoba · Coconut · Castor · Shea · Cocoa butter · Beeswax

Some pour. Some scoop. Some need a little warmth before they are ready to join the party.

Our oils, butters and waxes bring different textures and characteristics to a formula. Choosing the combination is part of creating the feel of a finished cream, balm or body butter.

Think of a well-stocked kitchen: lovely ingredients give you possibilities, but the recipe still matters.

The scent personalities: essential oils & botanicals

Lavender · Patchouli · Cedarwood · Lemongrass · Sweet orange · Lime · Ylang ylang · Vanilla oleoresin

Bright and citrusy? Earthy and woody? A little floral? Everyone has a favourite corner of the essential oil shelf.

We scent our Made In Hemp formulations with essential oils and botanical ingredients such as vanilla oleoresin. No synthetic fragrances—just plenty of plant personality.

Choosing how those scents come together is part of the fun. And if your favourite scent is “none, thank you”, we understand. We make unscented options too.

The botanical corner: familiar names, closer introductions

Calendula · Arnica · Rosemary extract

You may recognise these names from our product descriptions. Here, they get a little more room to tell their stories.

The individual profiles explore the ingredient we use and its place in a formulation. Because recognising a plant name is lovely, and knowing why it is in the pot is even more interesting.

The technical names: please don’t skip our profiles

Vegetable glycerin · Allantoin · Hyaluronic acid · Stearic acid · Emulsifying wax · Olivem 1000 · Optiphen Plus

Perhaps they would struggle to compete with lavender flowers in a product photo. We think they deserve some attention anyway.

This part of the library explores the practical work of making skincare: bringing a formula together, creating its texture, managing moisture and protecting the finished product.

An unfamiliar name gives us three useful questions to answer: what is it, why is it here, and what job does it do?

So, can I judge a cream by its ingredient list?

An ingredient list is a useful introduction. The finished formula tells you more.

The combination, proportions and way a product is made all help shape what ends up in your hands. A shelf full of beautiful oils does not turn itself into your favourite moisturiser. We have tried asking nicely.

That is part of what we enjoy about making skincare at our Long Jetty workshop: getting to know the ingredients, then working out how to bring them together.

For the ingredients in a particular product, check its current label or product page. Our formulas vary, so meeting an ingredient here does not mean you will find it in every jar.
