Hand Cream vs Body Butter vs Healing Balm: Which Should I Choose?

Made by us. Matched to your day.

Cream, butter or balm?

Hardworking hands, thirsty legs or stubborn dry patches? We make three different moisturising textures for good reason. Here is what each does best, where they overlap and how to put them to work.

Hand Protection Cream

Your everyday hand-care staple. Hemp and macadamia oils meet moisture-attracting ingredients in a cream made for frequently washed, hardworking hands.

Body Butter

Rich moisture from hands to heels. Creamy plant butters and nourishing oils soften dry skin, with vanilla, lavender and citrus options to make daily moisturising a pleasure.

Healing Balm

Our richest option for dry spots. Hemp seed oil, cocoa butter and beeswax, with concentrated calendula and rosemary CO₂ extracts. A little goes a long way.

The difference is in the whole formula.

Hemp seed oil runs through all three, bringing its skin-softening fatty acids to the mix. The ingredients around it determine how each product spreads, absorbs and feels on your skin.

Our Hand Protection Cream and Body Butters combine water and oils into creamy emulsions. Healing Balm has no added water: its oils, butter and beeswax create a concentrated, longer-lasting layer.

That gives you a practical choice: everyday hand care, generous body moisturising or richer attention for particularly dry areas.

The name on the jar is a starting point.

Body butter is a great hand moisturiser. Hand cream is useful on dry elbows. Healing Balm belongs wherever you need a richer layer of moisture.

We name them for their main role, but there is plenty of useful crossover. Here is how we recommend choosing.

Everyday moisture.
Richer nourishment.
Extra staying power.

I wash my hands all day. What should I use?

Choose our Hand Protection Cream. It is our first recommendation for frequently washed, dry and hardworking hands.

Hemp and macadamia oils soften and condition the skin, while glycerin and hyaluronic acid help attract moisture. Allantoin adds further skin-conditioning care to the formula.

Massage a small amount into clean hands, including the backs of your hands and around your nails. Reapply after washing and whenever your hands feel dry.

Keep it where you will use it. Beside the sink, at your desk or in your work bag. Regular application makes more sense than saving your hand cream for a special occasion.

I want a rich everyday body moisturiser.

Reach for a Body Butter. This is the one for legs, arms, elbows and all the other areas that appreciate a generous moisturising step.

Hemp seed oil and apricot oil combine with shea and cocoa butters for a creamy texture that spreads beautifully and leaves skin soft and nourished.

Apply after showering, while your skin is still slightly damp. Massage it in and give drier areas a little extra attention.

Choose Vanilla for its comforting warmth, Lavender for a gentle floral aroma, or Gym Junkie for arnica and our bright citrus essential oil blend.

And yes, Gym Junkie is just as welcome after a shower that involved absolutely no exercise.

My hands are really dry and cracked.

Make Healing Balm your richer moisturising step. Its concentrated oils, cocoa butter and beeswax soften rough skin and help seal in moisture.

Use a small amount on dry hands, cuticles, knuckles and other rough-feeling areas. Warm the balm between clean fingertips first for an easier spread in cool weather.

For a simple overnight routine, apply Hand Protection Cream or Body Butter first, then smooth a thin layer of Healing Balm over the driest spots.

The cream supplies your moisturising base; the balm adds a more persistent layer on top. It is a useful pairing for hands that need extra attention.

Can body butter go on my hands?

Absolutely. Our Body Butters are excellent hand moisturisers. Hemp seed oil, apricot oil, shea and cocoa butters leave dry hands feeling soft, nourished and comfortable.

Hand Protection Cream includes additional moisture-attracting and skin-conditioning ingredients chosen for hardworking hands. Body Butter gives you another rich moisturising option, with more choice of scent.

Our Hand Protection Cream shares its lemon-scented tea tree, sweet orange and lime essential oil blend with Gym Junkie. If you prefer something different, choose comforting Vanilla or floral Lavender.

Hands are part of your body, after all. There is no reason to leave them out of the body-butter goodness.

What makes Healing Balm different from a cream?

Healing Balm is a concentrated blend of oils, butter, beeswax and botanical extracts, with no added water. It has a richer, more persistent finish than our creams.

Sweet almond and hemp seed oils soften the skin. Cocoa butter adds richness, and beeswax helps create a layer that holds moisture in.

Calendula and rosemary CO₂ extracts are part of the formula too. These concentrated botanical extracts bring more of the plant story to the balm, alongside vitamin E.

It is the product that began our skincare range, and remains our recommendation when dry patches need that extra staying power.

Does Healing Balm have a scent?

Yes—it has its own botanical aroma. Calendula and rosemary CO₂ extracts, cocoa butter and the other raw ingredients all contribute to its character.

We do not add essential oils to Healing Balm. That makes it an essential-oil-free option, rather than a scentless one.

CO₂ extracts are a different type of botanical preparation from essential oils. In this formula they are part of the ingredient blend, bringing their own aroma along with them.

Can I use the cream and balm together?

Yes. Cream first, balm second is our recommendation for extra-dry areas.

  1. Massage Hand Protection Cream or Body Butter into clean skin.
  2. Let the cream settle.
  3. Smooth a small amount of Healing Balm over the driest patches, knuckles or cuticles.

This gives you the spreadability of a cream with the lasting finish of the balm. Before bed is a particularly convenient time for this richer combination.

I only want one product. Where should I start?
  • Hands are the main concern? Start with Hand Protection Cream for regular daily use.
  • You want one moisturiser for your hands and body? Choose a Body Butter in your favourite scent.
  • Very dry patches, rough hands or dry cuticles? Choose Healing Balm for its concentrated, lasting texture.

You can always add another product later. Start with the one that answers your everyday need.
