Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has earned its place as a skincare staple for good reason — it’s rich, nourishing, and beautifully versatile. But not all coconut oils are created equal. At Made in Hemp, we use certified organic, purified, and deodorised coconut oil in our hemp seed oil soaps, and MCT oil (a refined fraction of coconut oil) in our upcoming essential oil perfume rollers.

These two forms of coconut oil serve different but equally important functions: one to moisturise and cleanse, the other to carry scent and absorb beautifully.

What Is Purified, Deodorised Coconut Oil?

This is coconut oil that has been gently refined to remove colour, scent, and impurities — while maintaining its core fatty acid structure and skin benefits. It provides all the moisturising power of raw coconut oil, but in a neutral, hypoallergenic form that won’t interfere with natural scents or sensitive skin.

We use this version in our hemp seed oil soaps because it:

Is certified organic and free from added chemicals

Has no coconut aroma, making it suitable for essential oil–scented formulas

Adds rich lather and moisture without clogging pores

Works well for all skin types, including sensitive or oily skin

What Is MCT Oil?

MCT (Medium Chain Triglyceride) oil is a lightweight, odourless oil derived from coconut oil. It contains only the most stable, easily absorbed fatty acids — primarily caprylic and capric acids — making it ideal as a carrier oil in essential oil applications.

MCT oil is used in our upcoming essential oil diffuser blends and perfume rollers because it:

Is ultra-light and non-greasy, absorbing quickly into skin

Has no scent, allowing essential oils to shine

Extends the shelf life and stability of natural perfumes

Is skin-safe and soothing, even for delicate areas like the wrists and neck

Skin & Aromatherapy Benefits

Whether in soap or as a carrier oil, coconut-based oils offer:

Moisture retention – help prevent dryness and protect skin’s lipid barrier

Mild cleansing – excellent for gentle soap formulations

Enhanced glide – ideal for perfumes and massage oils

Neutral scent profile – won’t clash with essential oils

Naturally antimicrobial – especially the MCT fraction (caprylic acid)

Why We Use Both

We believe in choosing the right form of coconut oil for the job:

In soap, we use purified and deodorised coconut oil to moisturise and cleanse without overpowering your senses.

In perfume rollers, we use MCT oil as a gentle, scent-free base to let essential oils take centre stage while delivering a smooth, skin-loving finish.
